Blend shapes

This is the first time that I came close to bled shapes. I must  admit I had lots of fun doing this, mainly because of drawing, observation and modelling process.

Great inspiration and resource for me, was the book: Facial Expression. A visual reference for Artists. by Mark Simon.

 Here is the research:

And the outcome:

Since the mood of the film 'Without a Soul' moves across two emotions - happiness and sadness  - facial expression are pretty limited.

Betty. Animation tests

During the project I did a lots of tests. I was concentrating on walk, turn and fabric movement.
Here you can find different stages of research:

Betty..animation reaserch. Getting used to character

Betty was a team project. Me, Laura, Nuria and Greg were working together at 40 sec animation. Each of us had to do 10 seconds of key frames and then inbetween each other work.  It needed to be lock shoot, stage like. In this animation we needed to include fabric motion.

During voting Laura's design was chosen. Here you can find her fantastic design:

First stage for me was to get used to the character and Laura's style of drawing:

Then I started working on animation. First stage perform a striptease for whole year ;)

...and research the walk. Great inspiration Jessica Rabbit.

...and then the turn and the fabric movement
